I went to CommunicAsia 2009 exhibition in Singapore last week.
It’s my first time visiting such a big event, and it really is inspiring.

I am fortunate to meet similar, bigger IT services company like WGS in the exhibition whom I chat with and learnt a lot. Two of the IT outsourcing companies are from Phillipines, and two are from Vietnam.
They range from 25 engineer-strong, to 900 engineer-strong, charging from $13 to $17 per hour, with a wide range of technology expertise offered.

It’s a shame that no Indonesian outsourcing companies can employ that many people (and thus contributes to country productivity). With careful planning on growth, WGS hopefully can achieve what they achieve within several years!

There are a lot other interesting things, but one worth noting is Singapore IDA (Infocomm Development Authority) booth on the exhibition.

The Singaporean government is very serious with IT investment and improvement.
They plan to fiber-optic the whole island by 2012, at which point there will be all kinds of high-tech services enabled, such as remote health care assistance, virtual study tour, IPTV on every home, among other fascinating things.
They will be tendering billions of dollars for these projects.
With minor corruption, unlike in Indonesia, it’s comforting to see where all the money go: to the improvement and benefits of the people
